Used Excavator Inspection : Tips for remote inspections

heavy machine, equipment, machinery

Saw a great deal on a used excavator online but unable to travel to inspect it due to COVID-19 ? So here are some tips on how to better understand the excavator’s condition from wherever you are:

(1) Check the amount of working hours on the hours meter (through pictures). Generally, the lower the number the better.
(2) If you intend to use different excavator buckets with the excavator, make sure they are compatible! Not all buckets fit all excavators.
(3) Request the latest videos of the excavator working on a job. The more recent the video, the more likely that the excavator is in working condition.
(4) Research the model and brand to make sure that the spare parts are easily available where you are.
(5) Ask the seller how often the excavator is serviced and request for maintenance report to check on the overall health of the excavator. Needless to say, a regularly serviced excavator tends to be in a better condition.
