Qatar Petroleum awards EPC contract (LNG storage project) to Samsung C&T

QATAR: Qatar Petroleum awards EPC contract (LNG storage project) to Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group. The project is worth approximately USD 1.6 Billion.

The Engineering , Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract was awarded by Qatar Petroleum, a state-owned oil company. Samsung C&T will be responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) along with building three 187,000m³ LNG storage tanks, three loading facilities, and transport pipes. The construction period is estimated to be 57 months, with a scheduled completion date in November 2025.

Qatar is the world’s biggest producer of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). To keep up with increased global demand for LNG, Qatar is expanding its LNG Storage and loading facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City as part of its North Field East (NFE) Project. The completion of the NFE Project will see an increase of Qatar’s LNG production capacity grow from 77 million to 110 tons per annum. The second phase of the expansion, the North Field South (NFS) Project, will further increase the country’s LNG production capacity from 110 to 126 tons per annum by 2027.
